Malfunk [ITA]
» Web site» Label: SonyBMG

Malfunk was born thanks to Federico "Fefo" Forconi when he came back in Florence after some time spent in the States. The band is composed by Fefo himself (guitar), Ugo Nativi (drums) and Gianluca Venier (bass).
Thanks to his past and important collaborations (Toxic Reason, Jello Biafra, Ziggy Marley) and with a bunch of songs inherited byt the Birdmen of Alcatraz, Fefo decides to use the English language to compose his new songs to present live in some powerful live gigs.
Right afterwards the band releases its debut album, Sound of the Soul (1994).
During a gig, Fefo notices the singer of the band Sativa, an interesting and original Marco Cocci, and asks him to join Malfunk.
In the following four years the band gives numerous gigs all over Italy and leaves for an intensive European tour.
Their second record, Tempi Supplementari, is released in 1996 and shows a more mature band, both in the lyrics (now in Italian) and in the sounds.
The following year, Marco Cocci is chosen to be in the cast of the Italian cult movie Ovosodo, thing that will give a high popularity both to Marco and to the band.
In 2000 the band releases, with the help of Alessandro Frassinelli and Cockney Music, Malfunk 2000, an ambitous project dominated by the electropunk atmospheres ŕ la Prodigy combined with torrential rhythms and visionary lyrics.
This is when the bass player Gianluca Venier leaves the band to join Litfiba; his place is taken by Enrico Amendolia who makes the band's sound expression louder and more aggressive.
In 2003 the band releases Dentro with the production of Marco Trentacoste; the album contains some of the band hits: “Lento”, “La Mia Sensazione” and “Sono Il Re” lead the band to important successes such as the stage of the Primo Maggio Festival in Rome and the Heineken Music Festival in Imola.
After this record, the band feels the need to express in a different, softer way: it's the time for Fuori E Dentro (2005), a record in which the tracks of Dentro are re-arranged and played with the atmosphere of an acustic ensemble by the band itself.
Their last record, Randagi, is released in 2007 and the following year the band participates to Randagi con un Cuore Enorme, a benefit project, together with Piero Pelů, Andrea Chimenti, Federico Fiumani, Syria, Francesco Sarcina de Le Vibrazioni, L‟Aura, Marina Mulopulos, Gianni Maroccolo, Saverio Lanza, Mario Manzani, Massimo Fantoni, Giacomo Castellano, DeSpira, Gianluca Venier and Valentina Mosconi.
At work on their next album, Malfunk keeps on their intesive live activity with electric and acustic live sets.
