Abbiamo conosciuto Fiori come fondatore, voce e frontman dei Mariposa, da anni faro nella scena musicale indipendente italiana, o con gli Amore, e con le sue altre collaborazioni eccellenti, come ”Betti Barsantini”, insieme a Marco Parente o ”Assodifiori” con Alessandro ”Asso” Stefana. Alessandro Fiori racconta storie dei nostri giorni e lo fa attingendo ai suoi tanti interessi e agli artisti (Raymond Carver, Julio Cortazar, il Jannacci di ”Giovanni Telegrafista”, Piero Ciampi, il primo Lucio Dalla, Ivan Graziani, Francis Bacon...) che in un modo o nell’altro ispirano le sue canzoni, i suoi scritti e la sua pittura. Alessandro Fiori è uno dei giovani artisti più rappresentativi della scena musicale italiana, e difficilmente può essere accostato per stile ad altri. E’ lì col suo tocco dolce a mostrarti il lato impalpabile insieme a quello concreto e ruvido della nostra esistenza. It breaks my heart to inform you all that Charlie Cooper, my better half in Telefon Tel Aviv, passed away on January 22nd. We have been friends since high school, and began making records together a decade ago. We have been so fortunate to tour the world together, while at the same time having a massive amount of laughs at one another's expense. Aside from Charlie's singular genius and musical gifts, I can tell you that he was a total sweetheart of a guy, and a loving friend and confidant to people everywhere. His musicianship was surpassed only by his greater gift to the world - his warmth, his generosity, his unquenchable humor, and his undying loyalty to those whom he loved. In the spirit of honorable mention, however, I should mention that he had a shoe collection that was marvelous, knowledge of hip-hop that was profound, and knowledge of wine that was subtle. He is survived by a sister, a neice, a nephew, his mother, his stepfather, me, and more adoring friends than the Universe has dark matter. The new album, more powerful, poppy and in your face, was been recorded by Fabio Magistrali, Bruno Germano and Settlefish. It was then mixed in Texas by John Congleton (The Paper Chase, Explosions In The Sky, Polyphonic Spree, 90 Day Men).
With "Oh Dear!" Settlefish prove definitely (in case they still needed to prove something...) to be a mature band and moreover that they absolutely deserve to overshoot beyond italian borders.... They're working now on "The boy and the light" videoclip, directed by Opificio Ciclope. |

The title of the album recall the jolly mark the band gave to the new work. The 11 songs have at the same time direct impact and complicated weave, they sound rock and have refined arrangements, pierce into your head and don't leave it, they are so typical yuppie flu songs. You can feel that the band enjoied very much working on this record, they had fun, and often, when this happens, the result is an excellent record. We like it, very much. |
